Butterfly Release 2023
The month of May traditionally marks the start of a season of remembrance and new beginnings – with Mother’s Day and Memorial Day as well as graduations, weddings and other celebrations filling our calendars. You are invited to participate in a special butterfly release with a donation to the FCS Foundation made in honor and/or remembrance of someone special – a loved one, caregiver, physician or nurse, or another person who has touched your life.
Donations will be accepted during the entire month of May. Each gift of $25 or more will be commemorated with a live butterfly release on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 8:30 am at Silver Falls Park at Lakewood Centre, Bradenton, directly across the street from the Florida Cancer Specialist Foundation office. The event will also be streamed on Facebook Live.
I made a donation to honor Dr. Scott Tetreault, an FCS oncologist, and the entire FCS Tallahassee team to honor and thank them for being by my side from diagnosis to healing. I was so happy that they got a letter sharing that a gift had been made in their honor. It's very small gift I can give to them for all that they did for me and my family. Knowing that the donation will help cancer patients in need also felt fantastic.

After losing my uncle last year to esophageal cancer, the butterfly release was the perfect opportunity to celebrate his life. For me the choice to participate in this event was simple. My uncle was larger than life – quite the opposite of the delicate butterfly – but had an astounding appreciation for nature and the arts, music in particular, and was always finding ways to care for others before himself. Through the butterfly tribute I am honoring his life, and even more so, his mission in life to help others and see the beauty in every day.
